Fiends: 'Our Lifeblood' EP Review

A while back Fiends released a single called 'War Paint'. In short it was very good. Now the band are gearing up to release their brand new EP 'Our Lifeblood' on February 21st. Let's have a cheeky listen then!

'Claws In The Arch' opens the EP in anticipation and what you are greeted with 40 seconds in is a wall of sound that doesn't let up from that point onwards. Massive riffs panel sections of the song and underlay impressively ranged vocals. We are definitely dealing with a heavier sound Fiends! 'Malignant Fate' and 'Set Your Teeth On Edge' are a step towards the bands experimental side with tonnes of vocal styles and chord sections throughout the songs. The lead guitar roars through a variety of showcased riffs, slides and sections of face-melting goodness. Both songs genuinely have moments where breakdown face is continually pulled and then you are plunged into a moment of sincerity with cleans on vocals and guitar. The band obviously love messing with emotions.

The bands latest single 'The Narrator' is an anthem from start to finish. The single and its accompanying music video was released 25th January and really sets the tone for a raw, ore edgy band that clearly want to prove that they are good at what they do. 'The Narrator' does just that mixing soaring vocals with hard rocking riffs and sections of music that bring you so much sound you might wet yourself... Yeah! Check out the single below:

Final track 'Lifeblood' is one minute of war cries. The vocal harmonies hit highs that match the likes of old school bands like Broadway and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus in addition to current sensations Sleeping With Sirens. There is something uplifting and moving about this final track and it is a calm end to what is on the whole a hectic and energetic assault on the ears.

I can't sing this bands praises enough. There aren't many bands doing something different and with Fiends smashing out songs like 'The Narrator' in addition to other experimental tracks on one collective EP it's a matter of time before their musical prowess gets noticed!
