Create To Inspire
One very successful 2016 has led Create To Inspire to this point and what a good point it is. Their latest single "Counting Days" has shown further professionalism on top of earlier EP "Halfway Home" that was an in your face banger from start to finish. Hopefully further material and a progression of festivals/shows can help propel these guys onto more listeners.
FFO: While She Sleeps, Parkway Drive, Of Mice & Men
Breathe In The Silence
Cardiff rockers Breathe In The Silence have really made a move towards a more refined sound. Latest single "Feathers" has shown that the band definitely have what it takes to to write a sing-along. Previous self-titled EP also showed this flare to create catchy music that edges on heavier side. We can only hope BITS have more to offer in the form of new music this year.
FFO: Young Guns, Of Mice & Men, Our Last Night
I Cried Wolf
Any band doing it differently, and well at that that, are bound to turn heads. I Cried Wolf pull together hardcore elements with personal experimental characteristics that add some flavour to their recipe that is very refreshing to hear. With their last EP being as strong as it was you can only naturally be excited to hear more.
FFO: Beartooth, Every Time I Die, letlive.
Here are another band we have followed for a good while. Their song BFF is a song that will forever be the single that should have been so much bigger than it was. That said with the ability shown to write an instant passionate hit Bridges can obviously do so again and with new music on the horizon more hits like BFF would be warmly welcomed and provide the band further exposure.
FFO: Kings Of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers
Nick Santino's latest project Beach Weather is a mix of electronic and indie pop and is very pleasant on the ears. Pulling his defined connections the band have already finished a huge tour with The Maine and are hitting Europe and the UK with Sleeping With Sirens. With further exposure and material the band could easily take off.
FFO: The Maine, Alt J, The 1975
We may have been talking about this band a lot lately but since we saw them live it almost rounded them off as the whole package for us. Killer riffs in a hardcore genre conducted with melody and pace. The band are heavy and likeable appealing to fans of a lighter and heavier taste. It is important to re-mention that the band has been going just under a year and have done a huge amount off the back of one EP. With a second EP on the way and another year ahead who knows where they can get in that time. The bands single from said EP will be premiered tonight on the Radio 1 Rock Show at 7pm!
FFO: Beartooth, Alexisonfire, Someone else heavily and melodically balanced
These guys are probably the smallest in terms of general reach. That said, off the back of their first EP they have propelled on a local scale and have received a lot of praise (especially from us). When a band has raw talent it shows and that is exactly the case here. With the obvious flare and ability to write songs to a good standard the band feel like the whole package simply waiting to be noticed further.
FFO: Paramore, Funeral For A Friend, Mallory Knox
Fallen To Flux
After first seeing this band at Camden Rocks Festival in a small crammed bar they did nothing but impress. The fact that it was so early in the morning yet this bar was shoulder to shoulder with both fans and reviewers was a instant telltale sign. Fallen To Flux mix high ranged vocals with very metal sounding riffs/drums. Said mix hasn't been applied all that often and rarely then does it ever work as well as this. In this case it works very very well. With new music on the way you can't help but be very excited to hear how their sound has developed.
FFO: Bullet For My Valentine, Alexisonfire, Black Veil Brides without the weird make-up
Sometimes bringing back something of the old and mixing it with a sprinkle of new can make for a really exciting new sound. Myth City have their own unique take on nu-metal/rap rock and it sounds fantastic. Latest single 'Fracture' combines face ripping riffs with intense and stylish rapping that will have you banging your head like it's the 90's and Limp Bizkit are killing it. A new year can only mean more shows and more music and that is a very exciting fact.
FFO: The One Hundred, Enter Shikari, The Qemists
Press To Meco
Another band on this list showing that outside the box thinking pays off is Press To Meco. Finding themselves as an alt rock outfit that fit into almost any show/festival they could possibly want, they have made their way onto many a bill. Their technical harmonies coincide with tight musicianship and an overall experience live that is fantastic to watch. With captivating listenable music that is topped with a sprinkle of distorted guitar they are surely on many a watchlist. Make sure to catch the band on the upcoming Scuzz Throwdown Tour!
FFO: Harmonies, Musicianship, Originality
As It Is
With another album hopefully on the way will push these guys to new heights. After two very successful years the band are set to make yet another leap. The pop-punkers have sky rocketed and haven't shown any sign of letting up. The catchy sounding heartthrobs have a distinct sound that, done right, have the ability to make some amazing music.
FFO: The Wonder Years, Fall Out Boy, Roam
