Andy Ruddy: 'Everything Is In Order' Album Review

Andy Ruddy is a Singer/Songwriter from Bradford. This is a really interesting album review that I really want to get straight into so without further babbling on let's get on with it:

There is a really cool concept for the album which is probably it's most interesting factor due to it's in-depth manor. It is a chronological coming of age album. Tracks 1 to 5 are from the perspective of wide-eyed, youthful exuberance. At track 6 there is a ballad called 'The Reign I'm Under' which is a 'youthful illusions shattered' type of break-up song.

From there the album becomes more mature thematically. This is until the last 2 tracks 'Overgrown' and 'Only Now' which are supposed to be more reflective and coming out of the in-the-middle-of-the-'growing up/breaking up'-storm. The desired feeling is that the perspective of the writing constantly changes over the album.

Listening to the album with this in mind I feel the first 5 tracks beautifully reflect Andy's desired feeling for this part of the album. With a huge diversity in the songs, from more folk sounding music to straight up pop anthems to slightly more rock acoustics, Andy oozes the youthful vibe he was going for. Aside from this, these upbeat tracks are individually phenomenal too.

There is then a noticeable change in tempo and feeling from tracks 6-9 where they show more emotive drive and less of the upbeat and happy youth.

Though 'Overgrown' doesn't noticeably differ from the more mature sounding tracks, final song 'Only Now' really nails the reflective and coming out of the growing up storm as it is described. It is a beautiful acoustic that rounds off a truly remarkable album.

One thing that is for sure is that Andy Ruddy is a very talented man, whether you enjoy the music presented here or not you can definitely sit back and appreciate the thought processes and lyrical content present. The album is amazing and the songs stand individually strong and stronger as a whole. an album that is simply one that must be heard!
