Sisters On Wire: 'Ride' Single Review

Lithuanian rockers Sisters On Wire have just released a new track called 'Ride'. The band describe it as having a feeling nostalgic rock  with influences and attachments to bands from Coldplay to AC/DC. Let's take a listen!

I instantly get what the band are trying to do and what they mean with an "arena rock presence". There is a clear likeness in song structure to that of U2. I'm not quite sure about the AC/DC influence within the music but maybe an extremely diet version?

The middle section is an outrageously direct rip off of Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida'. There doesn't even seem an effort to hide the rip off. It's a ballsy move to further liken yourself to the band and draw attention to it. It may seem petty but the thing is the song is quite good and because the strings seem so blatantly lifted from another song it takes away from it.

Overall I really enjoyed the song with it's combinations of group vocals, rattly drums and driven guitars though their influences seem to come across all too clearly at times especially when that influence turns into a carbon copy within the song. The band are clearly spirited and talented though so I look forward to hearing more.

You can have a listen to 'Ride' yourself if you fancy right HERE.
