Kagoule are a three piece grunge band originating from Nottingham. Often likened to Nirvana, I struggle to see the similarities apart from in numbers. Kagoule's music seems to jump from airy and ambient tracks such as Made of Concrete to heavy plodding pieces such as Adjust the Way and then to symphonic like masterpieces such as It Knows It, a particular favourite of mine.
After seeing just how versatile they were whilst warming up for fellow Nottingham band, Dog is Dead, I was instantly enthralled. That was over two years ago. Since then not much apart from a thrilling Glastonbury Performance would have seemed to come from the unlikely bunch of fresh faced youths. However, thousands of fans who have remained loyal to the noisy group, were rewarded with the news of an album. Urth. The name itself rings with a medieval sense of mystery which is so integral to this band's attractive qualities. Drawing on talent from within the group itself, the album's artwork also looks to be great and all together is shaping up to be one of the best releases of this year. The three piece also signed a deal with Earache records and since then have released two great tracks, Glue and Gush, (These also came with great videos) that will no doubt feature on their debut album.
Whilst these guys and gal look set to make even more great music, be sure to check out what they've already done!
