Suzerain: 'What Happened' Single Review

Suzerain are an alternative rock band from London, UK. The band are said to be for fans of Nine Inch Nails and Royal Blood. Their newest song 'What Happened' will be released on June 15th so let's see what the single has to offer:

The bands sound on this track is great. It's like Kaiser Chiefs and Stereophonics back in the day with a little bit of Madness thrown in the mix. I thoroughly enjoy the single, it's energetic and lively but has a raw rock element at it's backbone. The fast paced verses are impressive and the odd inclusion of electronic synths add to the songs depth. The opening sequence with the guitar riff and vocals works perfectly to draw the listener in before the song fully kicks in at 25 seconds in.

Suzerain bring a little bit of crazy to their studio track here and I bet that translates well to their live shows. Whilst giving an experience full of rock goodness they sprinkle it with a just enough pop to create a well balanced song and in turn I'm sure, live performance.

I can see where the comparison of Nine Inch Nails and Royal Blood are drawn from. With electronic synths used sporadically and the raw distorted guitar sound that reverbs it's way  throughout the song it's a great single. I may have to be checking out some of Suzerain's other material after this!
