'Tirade' EP Review 'If I Told You, I'd Have To Kill You'

Tirade are a Alt Rock/Pop-Punk band from Manchester, UK. They have just released their latest EP 'If I Told You, I'd Have To Kill You' to stream through their bandcamp page. Here is what we thought of the EP...

Opening track 'Waste Your Time' is a mix of pop and rock with Four Year Strong style versus verse in terms of speed and velocity and a Foo Fighters chorus with a good ol' sing-along factor. The song is well structure well and has a certain "nod-along" aspect to it.

'Dead Again' is a slower song though I would say that it doesn't exactly play to the bands strengths in terms of vocals. As the longest song on the EP you can see what the guys are trying to do but aside from the solid chorus it doesn't quite justify it's place on the EP in comparison to the stronger high-tempo songs.

Third track 'Nothing To Say' plays at all the band's strengths exploding out of the gates the moment it starts. It's speedy pace and layered vocals work well and make for heavy yet listenable song. It is very punky in terms of speed but it is the faster paced songs that suit the vocalists ability and range best.

'Milestones' stands as one of the strongest songs on the EP landing right between their fastest and slowest songs in terms of tempo. The song is better mixed and the vocals can be heard far more clearly. The song seems to have a Blink 182 esque verse and a heavier chorus and bridge section. It is easily one of the best songs on the EP.

'91' has the best opening riff on the EP with a real headbanging "pop-core" (Because thats kind of a thing now) riff. The distorted chug of guitar throughout adds the heavy aspect and the vocals are clean and have more of a pop-punk style to them. The song works and is one of the stronger tracks along with 'Milestones'.

The EP is a little fuzzing in terms of sound quality which can sometimes let it down in terms of it's listening quality though the foundations for further EP's/projects is definitely present. Tracks '91' and 'Milestones' show great potential for the future in terms of songwriting and the band can only grow from here! Keep up the good work gents!
